The reason I had picked the Saturn as my new console of choice back in those optimistic youthful days was twofold.įirstly, I’d recently played one that summer. Yes, in the cool winter months of 1997, I had decided that I wanted a SEGA Saturn, and that is what this feature will be looking at over the coming weeks. The gaming machine that I had hand-picked to succeed my Super Nintendo was a very different one indeed. The funny thing was that originally I hadn’t even wanted a PlayStation. It wasn’t until October 1998 that I finally got my grubby mitts on one and the system only had about 18 months of relevance left at that point. I came pretty late to the PlayStation party. Back in the day though, the old SNES was the only gaming platform I had at my disposal for almost half the 90’s. My first console, all those years ago, was a Super Nintendo, but I’ve collected a fair few along the way since then. I will be reviewing contemporary stuff but I also thought I’d do some Retro Features now and then as I love classic gaming. Been a gamer since the early 90’s and I’m going to be one of the reviewers on this fine site. It’s a large town just outside of Manchester. My name is Mike and I’m from Stockport in Merry Old Great Britain. Also it was excellent to set tournaments, which I won them all, tournaments were round robin, the last round was set to endurance mode, the expert course, lots of laps, I won by 2 laps LOL.Welcome to our very first edition of our feature, Rings of Saturn! Here’s a little bit about me, should you care to know it. This game was excellent to play with friends and foes, usually on 4 or more player version, the winner stays and loser pays, since there was a line to play it, only the winner stood, one of the next challengers will have to pay up the winner, usually me, so I got lots of free games that way. Not even at the hardest setting the Computer will scratch me (on single player of course) Also of course I had the best times ever on the circuits, since the high scores didn't erase, my initials were always on top. Personally I mastered this game, at the point of nobody beating me, I even gave them a whole lap head start and catch up with them (thanks for the computer assisted speed boost when you are falling behind). 7.5/10 -Replay Value: Moderately Low Daytonaaaaaaaaaaaaa.Īt the time of its release, having the multiplayer option, great sound, even in some places cameras that showed players, the fun was endless on this machine at the arcades. 5/10 -Sound: High quality CD soundtracks. Graphics: High in pixels and low in polygons, cars look like boxes. 6.5/10 -Replay Value: Moderately High Saturn- Displeasing graphics, horrible release of Daytona. 7/10 -Sound: Very realistic roaring engines. Graphics: Very smooth run, cars have muscular wheels. Arcade- The best and original Daytona USA, yet. In 2004, Sega upgraded the original arcade version of Daytona USA into "Daytona GTX: 2004 Edition", with nitro-charged racing cars and a system to hook up your car with points you earned. In 2001, a home version of Daytona USA was released on Dreamcast. In 1996, Japan upgraded Daytona USA to "Daytona USA: Maxx", having all the cars on monster wheels and a turbo feature added. In 1995, Sega released a port on Windows-95. Right after, a port was released on Sega Saturn. In 1994, Daytona USA was released in the arcade. If you're a true pro, you will need no brakes, at all! I think Sega has done the best thing ever, releasing this powerful racing game that'll attract almost anybody! Race with some friends, crash each other into the walls or if you've been overlapped.make a u-turn and race the opposite direction, hoping to put a stop to the winning racer! Daytona USA is so much fun, you'll refuse to let go the steering wheel without a fight. Gain complete control over your stock car with Manual Transmission. Drift corners at maximum speed according to your skill. Select three different courses from Easy, Medium and Hard and put the pedal to the metal. It's a quick and easy set up, high-speed stock car racing game.
